SBA was thrilled to help out in this years toy drive for the Ronald McDonald house! Each year, the student organizations partner up to raise money for a charity before the holidays. This year, we wanted to have a positive impact on something local to Pittsburgh. We chose the Ronald McDonald House charity, which we hoped spread the holiday cheer!
Our club hosted a Noodles and Company fundraiser, under the direction of our Social Media Chair, Lauren Pollock. Additionally, we helped other organizations with their fundraising efforts. Another member, Dave Levey incorporated our sporty mentality by leading a canning trip near a local game.
Collectively, the Pitt Business Student Organizations (PBSO) raised $1,600. We purchased a Smart TV and stand, an ipad, toys, gift cards, and other electronics for a new family lounge on the cancer wing of Children’s Hospital. Presidents from the organization joined RJ Rakow (Assistant Director of Career Services) and Lindsay Crouse (Manager of Student Services) to deliver these gifts.
It was a great experience to be able to work with other business organizations towards a common goal, and we are proud to say the event was a huge success. We are proud to have given back to the community and look forward to hosting more service events such as this one in the future!
Thank you to our staff supervisor Yun-Oh Whang for coming to speak to us! Due to his many experiences, both professional and social, within the world of sports, he was able to engage us with passionate, captivating stories. He was also extremely generous in sharing with us advice from the lessons he has learned from working in the world of sports.
