A big shoutout to Andrew Fishman, Aditya Thawardas, Quentin Carbone, and Alex Berlin for volunteering at the University of Pittsburgh's initiative to make MLK Day "a day on, not a day off."
The crew took a bus to the Education Partnership. They spent the morning packaging school supplies for low income students in the Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.
The service project is just one example of the many ways Pitt students can make a difference in the Steel City. Thanks again guys!
Michigan State alumni, and new Pitt Athletics Marketing Director, Joe Rood spoke at tonight's meeting.
Rood climbed the corporate ladder and gained experience at his alma mater before making the switch to promote our very own, Pitt Panthers. He told the students about his experiences, his degree in journalism, and the transition to the world of sports. He explained the importance of both volunteering and networking in order to achieve success. Rood shared his job description and a few funny stories from his times in athletics.
Thank you joe Rood! As always, Hail to Pitt.
A big thank you to Randy Koury for helping us start off the New Year in SBA. Koury gave a lecture on his experience in broadcasting as a cameraman. An exciting adventure on the ski slopes and golf courses, Koury has had a fantastic career in the sports industry.
His unique career path from ski instructor to olympic coverage reminded us that our professions will take us on a wild adventure if we open our minds to new experiences. In addition to his awesome story, Koury gave the club insights in the technology and day-to-day life behind the camera.
The first meeting was on January 11th in 2200 Sennott Square. Fifty four members attended.
Thanks to everyone that came out!
